Identity

Garuda Khageswara (“Majestic Guard”) is an ancient bird deity from Indonesian mythology, exclusive to the International server as a localized version of Ying Zheng from the Chinese server. Born from the wishes of the Sandpura people, he initially granted humans their every desire, but realized that unbounded blessings only bred greed and bloodshed. After a period of reflection, he returned as “Wings of Judgment” to maintain balance—blessing the worthy while judging the wicked. His visual design features golden feathered wings, elaborate armor with Indonesian motifs, and a regal stance befitting a divine guardian.

Skills

Passive: Keen Feathers

Garuda’s basic attacks can pierce through enemies, dealing magic damage to all targets in their path. This makes his auto-attacks excellent for wave clearing and poking multiple enemies simultaneously.

Tip: Use basic attacks to clear waves quickly and poke enemies through minion lines. The pierce mechanic also damages enemies hiding behind tanks.

Skill 1: Arrows of Gold

Garuda conjures an arrow formation in a target area that deals continuous magic damage to enemies inside while slowing them. The damage ticks over time, making it excellent for area denial and sustained damage.

Tip: Use this to zone enemies from objectives or push towers. Position the area to catch enemies in narrow paths. The slow helps set up your ultimate.

Skill 2: Golden Winged Blessing

Garuda gains movement speed and a shield while dealing magic damage to nearby enemies. This is his mobility and survivability tool—use it to reposition, escape, or engage.

Tip: Activate before entering team fights for the shield buffer. The movement speed helps dodge skillshots or close the gap for your ultimate. Can also be used to escape dangerous situations.

Ultimate: Wings of Judgment

Garuda sends arrows surging forward, dealing magic damage to enemies in a line. He can activate the skill a second time to shoot all remaining arrows, dealing damage to nearby enemies, inflicting Dread (reduces movement speed), and removing all Physical Attack bonuses granted by enemy equipment.

Tip: This is what makes Garuda devastating—use it on enemy marksmen to strip their damage. The physical attack removal is unique and extremely powerful. Timing matters: use when enemy carries have full builds.

Pro Tips

  1. Poke pattern: Open with Skill 1 to slow enemies, follow with basic attacks to chip away, then use Ultimate when they’re low. The slow from Arrows of Gold makes landing your full combo easier.

  2. Ultimate timing: The ultimate is your most powerful tool but leaves you very exposed. Don’t use it as an opener—wait until enemies have committed to the fight or you have vision advantage. The physical attack removal is devastating in late game.

  3. Safe positioning: Always stay behind your frontline. Garuda has no hard CC and is vulnerable when caught. Use your shield (Skill 2) proactively, not reactively.

  4. Wave priority: Your basic attack pierce makes wave clearing fast. Prioritize pushing the lane, then rotate to help other lanes or secure objectives.

  5. Post-ultimate vulnerability: After using ultimate, you have a long animation with no mobility. Have an escape plan ready or position where your team can protect you.

FAQ

Is Garuda good in Season 14? Garuda sits at A tier with a 46.22% win rate but good pick rate (1.43%) and high ban rate (3.14%). He’s a strong poke mage with unique utility in his ultimate, particularly effective against physical-heavy enemy comps.

What’s the best build for Garuda? Full magic damage: Boots of Tranquility, Frozen Breath, Mask of Agony, Twilight Stream, Savant Wrath, Void Staff. Focus on magic attack, pierce, and cooldown reduction to maximize poke damage and ultimate availability.

Who counters Garuda? Assassins who can dive (Prince of Lanling, Lu Bu) are dangerous. Heroes with stronger CC (Princess Frost) can out-control him. Also vulnerable to magic resistance items that reduce his poke damage.

Is Garuda easy to learn? Medium difficulty. His skill rotation is straightforward (2-1-Ult is standard combo), but requires good positioning sense since he lacks hard CC and is fragile. The ultimate also requires knowledge of when to use it for maximum effect.

Can Garuda solo carry? Moderately. Garuda is a strong poke mage who can whittle down enemies, but he lacks the burst to instantly eliminate foes like Daji. He’s better as a team contributor who sets up kills rather than a primary carry.
