Current patch decision guide
When to pick Kaizer, when to avoid them, and how to adapt your build.
Kaizer is a balanced Clash Lane Fighter who wants to win extended fights with durability and crowd control. Public guide data shows a build centered on Lightfoot Shoes, Boots of Resistance, Meteor, used to soak pressure in lane and threaten side objectives. Pick him when the draft lets Kaizer reach targets that aren't built around Donghuang-style answers; avoid when the enemy is built around percent-HP damage and armor penetration.
Pick Kaizer when
- The enemy team has high physical or magic burst that demands a dedicated tank to absorb
- Your team has the structure to use his ability to soak pressure in lane and threaten side objectives, since Kaizer delivers a durable front-line presence with steady wave control.
- The enemy draft includes Da Qiao, Diaochan, and Daji, who appear in counter data as matchups Kaizer can pressure.
Avoid Kaizer when
- Your team comp lacks damage and adding another non-damage pick collapses the win condition
- Your team needs a mid pick more than Kaizer's specialty, leaving the role unfilled if you commit here.
- The enemy already drafted Donghuang, Kui, and Sun Bin, who counter data identifies as direct answers to Kaizer.

Build decisions
Default clash lane path
Public build references for Kaizer recommend Lightfoot Shoes, Boots of Resistance, Meteor, Axe of Torment, Spikemail, and Master Sword. Use this as the baseline fighter plan before adapting to the enemy draft.
Situational item pivots
Spare options listed in build data include Pure Sky, Sage's Sanctuary, Immovable - Sky Dome, Destiny, and Ardent Dominion. Treat these as situational swaps when the default path is not enough — for example, swapping in defensive items against burst comps or penetration items against stacked armor.
Matchup logic
Versus Donghuang
Donghuang and Kui are flagged in counter data as a direct answer to Kaizer. Track when the enemy carry buys percent-HP or armor-penetration items and adjust his item path accordingly.
Versus percent-HP damage
Heroes that scale with the target's max HP shred Kaizer regardless of armor. Buy magic resist or HP-density items rather than stacking pure armor in those matchups.
Synergies
Public synergy data lists Ming, Yaria, and Zhuangzi as strong partners for Kaizer. Plan engages around Ming's setup window, then second-engage with Invincible Warrior.
Common mistakes
- Building damage items hoping to deal kills, when the team needs the durability that makes you a tank in the first place.
- Ignoring Donghuang and Kui on the enemy team when picking fights — counter data flags them as direct answers, so engage timing must respect their cooldowns.
- Forcing solo engages instead of waiting for ally commit — Kaizer's value compounds when the team follows up on engages.
Background
Demonplate
“A sharp mind is better than a sharp blade!”
Once a Navenian noble, the tenacious and forbearing Kaizer chose to carry his family's curse alone in order to save his sister Luna. In order to trace the source of the anomalic power and free himself from the torment of fate, he wandered eastward to the Great Wall, where he participated in the war against the feralis. Though consumed by the demonic suit of armor that had stripped him of all his memories, Mulan's invitation allowed him to remain as a Great Wall Guardian, and his demonic blade has since turned him into a formidable defender of the Great Wall.

Kaizer's damage absorption makes him a great frontline tank. We've increased his damage output so he can also work well with an attack preset.

"Currently, Kaizer's overall strength is too high, especially when he purchases a lot of defensive equipment, making it difficult for opponents to counter him. Therefore, we've slightly reduced his strength when using defensive builds while maintaining his power with offensive builds."
